BubbleRAN Hardware Requirements

This page defines the minimum and recommended hardware requirements for BubbleRAN installations.

5G O-RAN Server Requirements

Minimum requirements for infrastructure nodes:

  • CPU with AVX512 support
  • Base or boost clock above 4.0 GHz
  • More than 16 physical cores
  • More than 64 GB RAM, DDR5/DDR6
  • More than 1 TB NVMe or SSD (write-intensive)
  • NIC Intel E810-XXVDA2 or Intel E810-XXVDA4 (required, only NICs validated for 100% compatibility)
  • Form factor: Tower or Rack
  • Cooling: Fan or Liquid (preferred)

Example CPU options:

  • AMD Ryzen 9 9950X, 16C/32T
  • AMD EPYC 9275F, 24C/48T
  • AMD EPYC Turin 9355P, 32C/64T, 3.55 GHz base, 4.4 GHz boost, 256 MB, 280 W, SP5
  • AMD EPYC Turin 9555P, 64C/128T, 3.2 GHz base, 4.4 GHz boost, 256 MB, 360 W, SP5

Please validate that any selected CPU meets the minimum core count, AVX512 flags frequency requirements.

tip

Check if your cpu has AVX512 support by running lscpu | grep avx512 command. If the output is empty, it means that your CPU does not support AVX512 instructions, which are required.

A GPS antenna is MANDATORY as the sync source for the PTP master clock. If a GPS antenna is not connected or is unstable, BubbleRAN does not take responsibility for PTP instability.
